History and the significance of India's valiant victory over Pakistan on Kargil Vijay Diwas
Today is the 24th anniversary of India's triumph over
Pakistan in the Kargil War. The Himalayan heights, which had been invaded by
Pakistani intruders in Kashmir, were retaken on July 26, 1999, by valiant Indian soldiers. The triumph and sacrifice of
our men are honored on this day.
On this day, the Kargil War soldiers who valiantly fought the Pakistani army in the Dras, Kargil, and Batalik areas in 1999 are remembered.

Till the Kargil
War, relations between the neighbors had remained tight following the 1971 war
between India and Pakistan. However, this imminent conflict grew during the
1990s as a result of rising tension and conflict brought on by separatist and
other actions in Kashmir.
Both parties also agreed to the Lahore Declaration, which called for the

Together with the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force expelled Pakistani invaders. Through Operation Talwar, the Navy strategically increased pressure on Pakistan. The Navy was patrolling Pakistani shores aggressively during the conflict.
After a protracted conflict, the Kargil War was ultimately put an end on July 26 when Indian army pushed Pakistani invaders from their held positions.
Every year, it is designated as Kargil Vijay Diwas. Every year on July 26th, the prime minister honors military personnel who died in
battle.
